Job Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled and adaptable Assistant Controller to join our fast-paced, private equity-backed health care technology company. The Company is undergoing significant transformation and requires a strong accounting leader to help elevate its financial operations. This role will be central to managing the monthly close, technical accounting, financial reporting, and audit processes, while contributing to process improvements across the department.
What would I be doing?
Essential Functions/Responsibilities/Duties
- Lead and manage the monthly close process, ensuring timely and accurate financial results in accordance with US GAAP.
- Contribute to resolving complex technical accounting issues, including drafting memos and implementing new accounting standards.
- Coordinate and support the annual US GAAP audit and international statutory audits, serving as the primary liaison with external auditors.
- Prepare and review financial statements and disclosures, ensuring completeness, accuracy, and compliance.
- Identify and implement process improvements to streamline accounting workflows, enhance controls, and support scalability.
- Maintain and enhance accounting policies and procedures, ensuring alignment with evolving business needs and regulatory requirements.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with FP&A, Tax, Legal, and Operations to support business initiatives and ensure financial integrity.
- Assist with M&A activity, including purchase accounting and integration of acquired entities.
- Support ERP and system enhancements to improve reporting and operational efficiency.
- Mentor and develop junior accounting staff, fostering a high-performance culture.
What would make me qualified?
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting; CPA required.
- 7+ years of progressive accounting experience, including public accounting (Big Four, preferred) and industry roles.
- Strong technical accounting expertise, including experience with ASC 606, ASC 842, and other complex areas.
- Experience in a private equity-backed and/or high-growth environment preferred.
- Ability to manage change in a dynamic setting.
- Proficiency with ERP systems (preferably NetSuite) and MS Excel.
- Excellent communication, analytical, and leadership skills.
