Position Summary
We are seeking a highly motivated Accounting Manager to join our growing team in the food and beverage manufacturing sector. This role will lead and oversee general corporate accounting and inventory accounting, with a strong focus on process improvement and ERP optimization.
The ideal candidate will have a solid understanding of inventory process flow within a manufacturing environment, strong technical accounting skills, and experience working with ERP systems. While food industry experience, CPA designation, and public accounting backgrounds are valued, they are not required. What is essential is a strong grasp of corporate accounting; inventory accounting, flows, and controls; manufacturing cost; and a proactive mindset focused on continuous improvement.
What would I be doing?
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee day-to-day general accounting functions, including month-end close, account reconciliations, and financial reporting.
- Own and manage inventory accounting and cost of goods sold (COGS) processes.
- Monitor and improve inventory process flow and controls across procurement, production, and distribution.
- Partner closely with Operations, Supply Chain, and Procurement teams to ensure accurate costing and inventory valuation.
- Develop and maintain inventory policies and procedures to support accurate reporting and compliance.
- Lead efforts to improve the use of the ERP system, with a focus on streamlining accounting and inventory processes.
- Assist in internal and external audit processes and ensure compliance with accounting standards and internal controls.
- Provide insightful analysis and recommendations to support decision-making by the CFO and executive team.
What would make me qualified?
Qualifications
Required
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- 7+ years of progressive accounting experience, including strong experience with inventory accounting in a manufacturing environment.
- Deep understanding of inventory process flow from raw materials through finished goods.
- Strong knowledge of GAAP and internal controls.
- Advanced Excel skills and experience working with ERP systems.
- Excellent organizational and communication skills with the ability to partner cross-functionally.
Preferred (but not required)
- CPA certification or progress toward CPA.
- Experience in the food and beverage industry.
- Background in public accounting.
- Experience with Microsoft Dynamics NAV or similar ERP platforms.
