Summary
The Accounting Manager / Senior Manager will own the core accounting operations and close process for a lean, publicly traded, clinical-stage biotech company. This role is critical to ensuring accurate financial reporting, strong accruals (especially clinical related), and audit readiness, while helping scale the accounting function.
What would I be doing?
Key Responsibilities
- Own and execute the monthly and quarterly close process, including journal entries, reconciliations, and flux analysis.
- Manage clinical trial and vendor accruals; ensure alignment between contracts, operational activity, and financials.
- Support SEC reporting (10-Q / 10-K) through schedules, tie-outs, and disclosures.
- Serve as primary day-to-day contact for external auditors; support audits and maintain documentation.
- Drive process improvements across close, accruals, and reporting workflows.
- Partner cross-functionally with FP&A, Clinical, and Contract Management to ensure spend accuracy and visibility.
What would make me qualified?
Ideal Candidate Profile
- 6–10+ years of accounting experience (Manager: 6–8; Sr Manager: 8–12).
- Big 4 background and CPA strongly preferred.
- Public company reporting experience required; biotech/life sciences strongly preferred.
- Strong U.S. GAAP knowledge and hands-on close experience.
- Proven ability to operate in a lean, fast-paced environment.
- Detail-oriented with strong ownership mindset and cross-functional communication skills.
