This position is responsible for supporting the management of Company’s operating expenses of the P&L, providing management reporting, analysis, budgeting, and forecasting, working across the functions to help drive efficiency and effectiveness of resource allocation in support of profitable growth. The role will represent FP&A as a liaison to Global Product Management, R&D and Commercial to help evaluate financial and business case and will be able to analyze and interpret data, challenge assumptions, present facts, analysis, and ideas to enable sound business decisions including investment and cost savings initiatives. The position requires both strong financial skills and a strategic mindset.

What would I be doing?

Financial Planning and Analysis (FP&A) – Operating Expense Management

 

  • Responsible for providing monthly and quarterly operating expense analysis and commentaries across R&D, Sales and Marketing, and General Admin P&L lines
  • Provide forecasting and budgeting and support for 5-year strategic planning
  • Identify and analyze key cost drivers impacting variances from period to period and from budget from tactical and strategic perspectives
  • Recommend course of actions across P&L expense lines to support enterprise P&L forecast and meet or exceed budget profit goals
  • Collaborate across the functions and serve as primary point of contact in FP&A for operating expenses in the global organization
  • Manage monthly and quarterly reporting of operating expenses as well as annual budget process
  • Work with IT resource to improve financial system and tools on functionality for timely and accurate management reporting, planning and analysis, e.g. automation of data integration in Hyperion and BPC
  • Help guide decision makers across the organization to manage expenses towards meeting and exceeding goals and targets
  • Coordinate with Corporate Accounting and help drive improvements to Capex process for budgeting, requests, and approval to ensure sound investment decisions as well as compliance with Delegation of Authority (DOA). Conduct or facilitate thorough and rigorous ROI analysis of capital budgeting projects

 

Finance Liaison – Operations and Strategy

 

  • Provide financial analysis and support for strategic initiatives and M&A opportunities including due diligence
  • Evaluate financial and business cases by developing financial models in collaboration with Strategy and Business Development (SBD), Global Product Management (GPM) and R&D to support external and internal product pipeline build and investment decision managing profitable revenue growth opportunities and
  • Support development of geographic and product line P&Ls and modeling of profitability of new and existing initiatives to assist Commercial in improving performance management and efficient use of operating resources
  • Prepare reports and analysis for CFO with metrics related to performance of strategic initiatives and business versus goals and industry analysis

What would make me qualified?

  • BA or BS degree in Finance, Accounting or related areas is required, MBA or CFA preferrable
  • Minimum of 7 years of experience in finance related roles including financial planning and analysis
  • Strong financial analytical skills, attention to details, proficiency in building and using complicated data sources, financial modeling, and multi-year projections
  • Strong understanding of accounting concepts, US GAAP and applications
  • Excellent communication skills including verbal, written, and presentation
  • Problem solving acumen, especially with innovative and creative solutions
  • Critical thinking skills, and proactive thought leadership
  • Ability to understand the big picture while being detail-oriented
  • Ability to multi-task and respond quickly to requests for information
  • Comfortable interfacing with and presenting to executive management
  • Strong organizational and project management skills with the ability to prioritize, and delegate as needed; along with experience in leading cross-functional teams
  • Highly motivated, proactive and collaborative work ethic, able to independently move projects forward, assume leadership responsibilities in critical situations
  • Proficiency in MS Excel, PowerPoint and Word – with experience in creating financial models for evaluating investment decisions and performing portfolio and account level profitability analysis
  • Experience in ERP and reporting tools, e.g. SAP, BPC, Hyperion
