Our client is seeking a top tier candidate for a Payroll Manager with a positive attitude and highly motivated to learn and grow within a fast-paced organization. This role will take part in various work streams within the Finance and HR organization and will contribute to the development and implementation of best practices within the accounting and reporting processes.  You’ll work to ensure our payroll expenses and taxes are paid correctly and on time. What would I be doing?

  • Responsible for driving the day-to-day operations of the payroll function for company’s rapidly growing US team.
  • Maintains payroll information by designing systems; directing the collection, calculation, and entering of data.
  • Updates payroll records by reviewing changes in exemptions, insurance coverage, savings deductions.
  • Pays employees by directing the production and issuance of paychecks or electronic transfers to bank accounts.
  • Prepares reports by compiling summaries of earnings, taxes, deductions, leave, disability, and nontaxable wages.
  • Determines payroll liabilities by approving the calculation of employee federal and state income and social security taxes, and employer’s social security, unemployment, and workers compensation payments.
  • Balances the payroll accounts by resolving payroll discrepancies.
  • Provides payroll information by answering questions and requests.
  • Maintains payroll guidelines by writing and updating policies and procedures.
  • Audits and verifies complies with federal, state, and local legal requirements by studying existing and new legislation; enforcing adherence to requirements; advising management on needed actions.
  • Define and execute payroll controls, support payroll tax registration process, support unemployment process with 3rd party vendor.
  • Steer process optimization, facilitate audits and drive improvements to payroll process
  • Maintains employee confidence and protects payroll operations by keeping information confidential
  • Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies.
  • Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
  • Collaborate with internal partners, including HR Operations, General Accounting/Finance.

What would make me qualified?

 

  • BA/BS degree in Accounting or related field.
  • At least 8 years plus of total payroll experience with US or multi-state focus.
  • Experience with multi-state payroll and tax laws, and payroll processing.
  • Thorough knowledge of federal and state payroll and tax regulations.
  • Ability to work effectively with all levels of an organization.
  • Strong analytical skills with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage competing priorities and deadlines and strong problem-solving skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication.
  • Familiarity with TriNet, ADP (Workforce Now), and NetSuite ERP a plus.
