Reports to Tax Compliance & Reporting Lead. The Tax Senior Accountant is an integral member of the tax department who will provide hands-on support, primarily for domestic income and non-income tax compliance, audits and financial reporting.

What would I be doing?

  • Assist with tax return compliance – federal and state & local income tax compliance process using a co-source arrangement with third-party provider.  Prepare and ensure estimates/extensions are timely and accurately filed
  • Assist with tax audits and controversy – state & local tax audits by evaluating information requests and developing strategies to successfully defend tax filing positions and related FIN 48 (ASC 740-10) and FAS 5 (ASC 450) liabilities
  • Assist with federal and state income tax notices/audit requests, be the point of contact for tax authorities.
  • Assist with non-income tax compliance – indirect tax filings including sales and use tax, Canadian GST/HST, personal property tax, commercial rent tax. All indirect tax filings are prepared by a third-party provider
  • Assist with financial reporting – quarterly and year-end domestic tax provision calculations in accordance with ASC 740 including federal/state current and deferred calculations, state effective tax rate calculation, federal/state payable analyses, provision to return adjustments, NOL carryforwards and valuation allowance analysis, footnote disclosures
  • Assist with internal controls – partner with internal audit, external auditors, and tax department personnel to ensure compliant with SOX controls
  • Assist with special projects including planning, forecasting, researching tax technical matters and preparing memorandums to document conclusions
  • Manage income tax accounts, including account analyses, roll forwards, and reconciliations.
  • Model tax impact and properly reflect changes for accounting pronouncements, accounting standards updates, federal, state, and international income tax law changes.
  • Drive process improvement projects to streamline and enhance current processes for provision and compliance.
  • Assist tax department with other tax reporting or international projects on an as needed basis.

What would make me qualified?

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting is required
  • CPA and Master’s degree in Taxation preferred
  • 3+ years of tax experience with a proven track record of increasing levels of responsibility and or/equivalent experience in tax department of a large multi-national corporation.
  • Knowledge of Thomson Reuters OneSource Income Tax desired
  • Knowledge of SAP, Hyperion, and/or FCC financial software desired
  • Experience with research tools, such as BNA or CCH
