Why would I want this job?

The Manager of Accounting, System, and Foundations will be responsible for directing and coordinating the day-to-day accounting and reporting activities. The role will monitor and/or establish an effective system of accounting records and a comprehensive set of controls to ensure compliance with GAAP, reimbursement, and regulations and mitigate risk over the organization’s assets. The role reports directly to the Director of System Accounting, Reporting, and Reimbursement and will work collaboratively with the Director of Accounting, Reporting and Reimbursement for the other System subsidiaries and combined entities.

What would I be doing?

  • Prepare quarterly and annual System financial reports, including balance sheets, income statements, cash flow statements, and supporting notes. Ensure these reports are accurate, timely, and compliant with standard accounting principles.
  • Manage the monthly close process.
  • Responsible for the monthly close process coordinate with the other leaders of the remaining system entities to ensure timely and accurate intercompany accounts are reconciled.
  • Analyze and post monthly intercompany charges.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with the financial leaders to ensure timely reconciliation of intercompany accounts and general ledger tie-out and upload.
  • Assist in System entities’ budgets as deemed necessary.
  • Revise/establish and implement accounting policies and procedures as necessary, including research in acquisitions and mergers, joint ventures, equity investments, etc.
  • Responsible for assisting in managing the relationship with external auditors and coordinating and overseeing the annual external audits for all System entities, including the preparation of consolidated financial statements.
  • Responsible for the audits of The Foundation
  • Assist in the audit performed by E&Y.
  • Assist with maintenance of the General Ledger, CoA, and reporting under the new Oracle system.
  • Participate in preparing the company’s external reports for various entities.
  • Communicate with foundation leaders, board members, and external stakeholders, participating in the Audit and/or Finance committees as assigned.
  • Supervise and mentor foundation accountants, promoting professional development and productivity, including hiring, training, and evaluating staff performance.
  • Build strong relationships with external peers and professional organizations, including statutory organizations, to leverage knowledge and network.
  • Models and fosters an environment of professionalism and employee engagement in the department.
  • Responsible for recruitment, retention, and employee engagement.
  • Responsible for creating an effective department culture which ensures an engaged workforce.
  • Ad-hoc requests, as needed
