We are seeking a Staff Accountant to join a growing finance team supporting a multi-location business. This role will be responsible for month-end close, financial reporting, account reconciliations, audit support, lease accounting, fixed assets, and process improvement initiatives. What would I be doing?

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare and review journal entries, account reconciliations, and supporting schedules as part of the monthly and quarterly close process.
  • Assist with financial statement preparation, management reporting, and variance analysis.
  • Analyze budget-to-actual results and provide insights to support business decision-making.
  • Manage lease accounting activities in accordance with ASC 842.
  • Maintain fixed asset records, including additions, disposals, depreciation, and reconciliations.
  • Support sales and use tax compliance activities across multiple jurisdictions.
  • Coordinate audit requests and prepare supporting schedules for external auditors.
  • Identify and implement process improvements that enhance efficiency, accuracy, and scalability.
  • Partner with Finance leadership on budgeting, forecasting, and special projects.

What would make me qualified?

Qualifications

Required

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
  • 4-7 years of progressive accounting experience.
  • Strong understanding of GAAP and financial reporting.
  • Experience with month-end close, account reconciliations, and financial statement preparation.
  • Experience with lease accounting (ASC 842) and fixed asset accounting.
  • Advanced Excel skills and experience working with ERP systems.
  • Experience supporting external audits.

Preferred

  • CPA or active pursuit of CPA certification.
  • Experience within retail, distribution, consumer products, manufacturing, or other multi-location organizations.
  • Experience with sales and use tax compliance.
  • Exposure to Power BI, Power Query, Power Pivot, or other reporting and analytics tools.
  • Prior experience mentoring junior team members or serving as an informal team lead.
