Job Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Senior Accountant to join our Finance team, specializing in Fixed Assets. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing all aspects of fixed asset accounting, ensuring compliance with accounting standards, and maintaining accurate records for the company’s asset base. This role requires a strong understanding of accounting principles, asset management, and financial reporting.
What would I be doing?
Key Responsibilities
- Fixed Asset Management: Oversee the tracking, recording, and reconciliation of fixed assets in the company’s accounting system.
- Capitalization and Depreciation: Ensure proper capitalization of assets and the calculation of depreciation based on company policies and accounting standards (US GAAP).
- Monthly/Year-End Close: Assist with month-end and year-end close processes, including preparation of journal entries, reconciliations, and variance analysis related to fixed assets.
- Asset Acquisition and Disposal: Track asset acquisitions, disposals, and transfers, ensuring proper documentation and compliance with company procedures. Ensure proper accounting for asset retirements and disposals.
- Fixed Asset Reconciliations: Perform periodic reconciliations of fixed asset ledgers, including resolving discrepancies and ensuring that all asset-related transactions are recorded accurately.
- Reporting: Prepare and present detailed fixed asset reports for management, auditors, and external stakeholders. Support preparation of financial statements and disclosures related to fixed assets.
- Audit & Compliance: Support internal and external audits by providing documentation and explanations of asset-related transactions and balances. Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and internal policies.
- Collaboration: Work closely with other departments (e.g., procurement, operations, and IT) to ensure proper tracking and management of fixed assets.
What would make me qualified?
Requirements
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. CPA or equivalent certification preferred.
- Experience:
- Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in accounting, with at least 1 year in fixed asset accounting.
- Strong knowledge of fixed asset management, capitalization, depreciation methods, and accounting for asset disposals.
- Experience working with ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, or similar) and advanced Excel skills.
- Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills to interact effectively with team members, management, and external auditors.
Preferred Qualifications
- Oracle ERP FA Module experience.
- Experience with large-scale asset management in a multinational or complex business environment.
- Proven ability to streamline processes and implement best practices.
